FUCK.
They're predicting +1 tomorrow. Could I have just one damn winter with a solid -15 from the first snow until the spring thaw? Hell, I'd settle for anything below -5 and not too humid. I'm so over this melt/refreeze cycle that leaves all surfaces covered with a thin invisible glaze slippery as lube, the better to screw us with. |

Only 5 days of work left for me.
3 days left this week, then Monday & Tuesday are off and working on Wednesday and Thursday (24th) - my last day. Gosh, that passed fast.

Throwing away my "education"..Ha! For good? For a very long time? Will I ever start afresh?
I think I should start to assume that now a miracle has to happen in order for me to get my University degree... over the past few days I've thrown away loooooads of notes/copies/copied books/chapters... here's the last pile.. I threw away 3 or 4 like these... I was looking through them, all the notes from History of American/English literature, History of England, USA, all the American culture courses, phonology, linguistics... who am I kiddin.. I'd never pass these exams now... and I guess I'd have to study for the Defense Exam (IF I ever wrote the MA Thesis anyway, which - let's face it - I don't really even think about doing anymore that often).
Sometimes I feel bad for not having finished. I was so close. Only the dissertation left. I even wrote 1 chapter back then. But then life got busy and I sure still ain't good at managing my time... People have families, jobs, lectures on weekends and still manage to complete their studies.. I was jobless, in love, excited, devastated, hit with a tragedy - I can find many excuses but what for. Just wasn't meant to be. Sometimes I feel it I should do it... make all the effort, pay, study, make up what I have to... but then... it's not something that defines me or that I badly need to exist. I only need Anne :)
Was it really 7 years ago that I would've gotten my degree? Once again all I can say - time sure flies.
I think it's time to buy my ticket for Paris and never look back :P |

A teraz zamieniamy w tym tekscie odniesienia do krzyzy na odniesienia do orientacji seksualnej. Lulz ensue.
Potrzebują go w swojej przestrzeni ludzie wierzący, ja też - a "tolerować" łatwo mogą przyzwyczajeni do tego widoku współobywatele obojętni religijnie i zarazem nie odczuwający zagrożenia ze strony wierzących.

Skoro ludzie wierzacy burza sie na propozycje "rob to w domu po kryjomu", to moze wreszcie pojma, o co kaman nam beszczelnym promotorom? |

another coincidence:
today i was talking about Mansi language and numerals in this language, that are interesting mainly, but not only, because there is homonymy in the very numeral system. namely, "sāt" is '7' and '100' at once. here i wrote more about this.
and then i've seen that one of my friends on facebook posted another example of homonymy in this language: "ńulmėη χāp" means 'speed boat' and 'boat with a hole'.

well it was almost as strange as the fact that once in Budapest in the Lutheran church i met, totally by coincidence, a Polish girl who speaks Udmurt.
now i wonder if it is good that everyone knows everyone or does it mean that there are not so many Udmurts... |

siedzieliśmy w biblio i postanowiliśmy odświeżyć wielką tradycję dada, tym razem na materiale słownika fińsko-polskiego. otworzyłem tom na chybił trafił, nie patrząc dotknąłem palcem u ręki tekstu i na co natrafiłem?
"käsisignaali" 'znak ręką'
a drugim razem trafiłem między 'kaplicę' a 'czekistę'. inne ciekawe słówka i syntagmy, które przy okazji rzuciły się nam w oczy:
'obsiew ugoru'
'czas wyrębu'
'glinoziem'
'jazda wołami'
aha, a z innego słownika: "lunapar". taki lunapark dla doro.

aha, wczoraj poszedłem sobie na koncert Laibacha i Juno Reactor. dowiedziałem się o tym "rano" z radia. koncert Laibacha był świetny, choć na początku grali nowe utwory, z którymi jeszcze się nie zdołałem oswoić. a z Volku była America, Anglia [z ładnym motywem krwawego krzyża z flagi], Türkçe [Ata! Atatürk!], Francia [it's never too late] i na bis Slovania.
a o JR wcześniej w ogóle nie słyszałem. na początku wyszła jakaś pani i zaczęła operowo zawodzić, co jednak po chwili okazało się przemyślaną częścią eklektycznego wizerunku, w skład którego weszły poza nią: bębny afrykańskie, maski i [bez]stroje takoż afrykańskie, a przynajmniej tak stylizowane, wokalista z dredami, gitarzysta Japończyk w powłóczystych szatach pokazujący co chwila "pozdrowienie mocy" [czyli zapożyczone od chasydów błogosławieństwo].
